Prince Maximus of Reminescence, also known as Prince Maximus, is one of the main characters of Kirsten Nimwey's first and featured novel series, The Explorers. He is the chosen Wielder of King Jethro's Water element.

Appearance and Personality[]

“The Reminescence knows more about you than I do. It is because your name has something to do with the history of Reminescence and I have reached that history during my very young age. Maximillian… that name, is the only one… the true king of Reminescence…”

- Maximus to Kenji

Maximus is the only son of King Maximus X of Reminescence, and King Jethro's chosen Wielder of Water element. He is the only water-bearer prince of Reminescence royal family. Due to his element's unique ability, Maximus is the only Element Wielder who can step on the water's surface.

Maximus is a quiet type of person, that he doesn't speak all the time except being talked to by someone else (but sometimes he ignores them). Maximus enjoys his solitude as he was being raised by his father as a loner in their royal family, but he has the strongest passion when it comes to symphonic and melodious music. He loves to play piano, flute, and violin.

The said prince is the tallest Element Wielder among fourteen, having the height of six-foot and two inches. Unlike the other characters, his skin is fairer, hinting that he is not an ordinary character of the novel. His hair color is gold, and the length is long down to his waistline. His eyes are blue, and he has a bandage-like fabric covering a part of his left cheek which is his main signature.

He normally wears different types of royal costumes and paladin armors while he is in Reminescence, but when he moves in the Explorers base, his normal costume changes into tuxedo. His main weapon is sword, but he also wields instrument-type of weapon such as flute.

Etymology[]

Maximus, the Roman family name which was derived from Latin maximus meaning, "the greatest". Saint Maximus was a monk and theologian from Constantinople in the 7th century.

Trivia[]

  • Maximus is the second to the most unique characters of the novel next to Clio.
  • In the first book of the series, the characters are used to call him as "Maximus". But in the sequel, The Explorers: King Maximillian, he is now called "Xandir".
